World Belly Dance Day 2007 Dubai

I thought to make it a Ladies day out, so no gentlemen around!!! We still had to keep it quiet, as you know Dubai is in the Arabian gulf and people are not so open minded yet, so hush-hush.
But we managed to make a very nice day with plenty of dancing going on, beautiful performers, great prizes to give away, we were so lucky we had Lexus as a sponsor and if we are lucky they will be with us again next year... Prizes including DVD players, watches, printers and a air ticket return to Cairo !
Of course, the Arabic band that has been working with me for more than 10 years was so nice to donate their time and was playing entertaining the guests for many hours singing in at least 5 languages...

The DJ did her bit - lovely Gail gave up her day to stay with us and played music and entertained the audience.

All the dancers performing did a great job and all are students that are studying with me. I did not bring any dancers from outside, perhaps the next time. But they did a outstanding job and a am very proud that I have students that are so talented and hard working!
Oh, we did competitions as well - endurance competitions to raise money from the sponsor... like 1 dollar per hipdrop and 1 dollar for a complete figure 8 if you do a hundred that is 100 dollars! Even many people from the audience giving away hip drops!!! So everybody worked real hard to get al the money available and we managed to raise a good amount. The money we raised was split in parts and given to the Breast cancer Awareness and K9 Friends that are in need of a new shelter.

The venue was The Hatta Fort Hotel, a lovely hotel that is located in the Hagar mountains about 45 min drive from Dubai and they did a great job. We danced in the ballroom and had a lovely 5 course diner after the shows and after all the work was done. It was worth it so I am thinking of going back there next time. After diner I still performed for 50 minutes and at the end of the show everybody joined making a Conga.
