You can use this logo to promote the World Belly Dance Day, as long as it is not used for commercial purposes:
World Belly Dance day web site was inspired by the idea of educating people about Belly Dance. Our task is to show how nice it can be, that it is a lovely dance not necessarily done only in nightclubs or restaurants. It is an art form that brings lots of people together, of different ages, nationalities, countries, backgrounds, religions.
This is not a commercial site. Our focus is on the dance, we want to see this art flourish and enjoy all the respect it deserves. We need this kind of input from dancers, teachers and oriental dance lovers to promote the dance as a decent and beautiful art form.
If it is in your power to organize a dance event – a show, a dance competition, a workshop or just an enthusiasts’ get-together, please join us on the second Saturday of May. It is not necessary to make it a big event, as long as you contribute to the Belly Dance Day.
We encourage everyone to dedicate your event to raising money for a charity of your choice. Do it for the love of art, not for personal gain and profit.
If you do not think you can hold a fund-riser, then please encourage your dance school, troupe, or just your dance friends to hold a little Belly Dance Day event, just to share the love of the dance with so many people around the world. Make a little Belly Dance Day banner, take a picture and send it to us together with a story around your event and your dance gathering and we will place it on our web site.
All the entries would be considered as long as your event:
• Promotes Bellydance as a decent and beautiful art form. (Many of us had to face remarks that belly dance is something indecent, something next to stripping. To avoid any controversy we encourage everyone to treat Belly Dance Day as a “family-rated” event, and therefore avoid questionable costumes.)
• Is held on the second Saturday of May (In 2009 it is the 9th of May) in unison with many dancers around the world.
• All profit from that day should go to a charity of your choice. (This is in case you are holding an event that raises funds.)

BEFORE THE EVENT
You can submit your World Belly Dance Day Schedule 2009 to EMAIL, including
1) Your Country and City
2) Short description of the event
3) Your name/Name of the Dance School and Contact details (for example email and link to your more detailed Schedule, if you have one.)
Please write in Engish, as we are trying to make the site enjoyable for everyone!
AFTER THE EVENT
You are welcome to submit your report and pictures from your event and youTube links to your World Belly Dance Day videos.
